Welcome to the Guide to the Dark Jedi Profile Format. I'm in charge of either accepting or critiquing your character's profile. There often tends to be quite a bit of confusion that comes along when creating your character's bio, so I'm going to walk you through it step-by-step, offering any advice I can along the way. This is meant only for Dark Jedi Applications. Do not use my advice for any other character you may be creating.
Full Name: Choose a name that matches your character's race. For example, a Twi'lek would never be named "Dave". Look on wookieepedia.com for details on the naming system. Advice on naming your character will also be hinted at in other categories.
Race: This ia very important aspect of your character, as it effects your character's history, appearance, birthplace, name, and even alignment. Humans have a different way of naming themselves than Twi'leks do, and each race has its own fighting style. For example, Wookies and Ewoks wouldn't be very good Dark Jedi, would they? They don't have the necessary skills. They would, however, be great warriors. Do some research before just choosing a random name!
Age: Age is not a thing to be taken lightly, even if you choose a simple race like a Human. Age can impact how well your character fights; if your character is still a child, they most likely won't be amazing fighters, and if they're too old, they won't be what they used to be. Some races live longer than others, so the aging system is completely different. Again, research this thoroughly before choosing.
Gender: Gender isn't as iimportant as race, name, and age, but it does affect your character. In general, females are quicker and thinner, while males are typically stronger and move more slowly. This is not always the case, though.
Height and Weight: Height, along with weight, is influenced by gender, age, and race. If you don't know what average 40 year old males weigh, there's no shame in looking it up. We only accept height in feet and inches (5'6").
Bithplace: Birthplace is influenced by race, mostly. Humans tend to live everywhere, for whatever their reasons, but some races choose to live only in a specific area, unless they have very good reasons. Do your research!
Rank: Before choosing, there are a few facts to consider:
Dark Jedi Acolytes: Dark Jedi Acolytes were Force-sensitive apprentices who had only just started down the dark path under the tutelage of a more experienced Dark Jedi. (Wookieepedia.com)
So basically, Sith Acolytes are alot like Jedi Padawans. They are trained by a "Dark Jedi Master". On this site, a Sith Acolyte must be at least 13.
Dark Jedi Masters/Knights: Dark Jedi Masters or "Knights" are broken into three categories, much like Jedi Knights are separated into Guardians, Consulars, and Sentinels. On this site, a Dark Jedi Master/Knight must be at least 22 years old.
Dark Jedi Marauder - Dark Jedi Marauders were fueled by hatred, rage, and cruelty; the Marauders would fill themselves with rage when entering a battle, entering a battle-fury fueled by the dark side. Thus, most Marauders could duel any average Jedi, toe-to-toe, and win easily. Marauders cared little for the subtleties of manipulating others and lacked a deep understanding of the Force.
Dark Jedi Warrior - Dark Jedi Warriors spent little time on actual dark side philosophy or other concerns of the "purer" Sith. It is very possible, just like the Sith Lord being the dark side version of the Jedi Master, the Dark Jedi Warrior could be the dark side version of the Jedi Guardian.
Dark Jedi Assassin - Dark Jedi who preferred to use more sneaky methods of winning a battle. They are usually more attuned to the Force, being the opposite of a Jedi Consular.
Sith Lord: Sith Lord was a title that was conferred on a powerful master of Sith knowledge. Yet, the title seemed to be used somewhat ambiguously to refer to various things, including all Sith, the Dark Lords of the Sith, Sith Masters in Darth Bane's reformed order, or as a rank akin to that of the Jedi Knight for the Jedi Order. Several Sith Lords also held the Darth title. The term "Sith Lord" generally encompassed members of both sexes, although some female Sith, such as Lumiya, were styled Sith Lady. (Wookieepedia.com)
On this site, Sith Lord's must be at least 30 years of age. If your Sith Lord is very young, it will have to be thoroughly explained in the boi, and we may not even accept it. It would be wise to PM a staff member before creating a young Sith Lord. Also, Sith Lords can have apprentices, maybe more than one.
Dark Lord of the Sith: The Dark Lord of the Sith is the leader of the Sith, or Dark Jedi Academy. Darth Judicar is currently the Dark Lord of the Sith, and all Dark Jedi answer to him.
Lightsaber: A Dark Jedi's lightsaber is unique to the person who weilds it. Your character's lightsaber could be single-hilted, double-bladed or single-bladed. They could also dual-weild lightsabers.
Color: Typically red for a servant of the Dark Side. If you lightsaber if a very strange color, explain it in your history. We will not allow any black or white lightsabers!
Lightsaber Skills and Forms:
All attributes are ranked from 0-5, 5 being mastered, and 0 meaning that your character has not even learned the basics. Please be reasonable, for no Dark Jedi is skilled in every lightsaber form, and most focus on 1 or 2 only.
Shii-Cho: All Jedi incorporate Shii-Cho into their fighting style, as it is the first style learned by a Jedi. The same goes for Dark Jedi. No other lightsaber form may be as high as Shii-Cho.
Makashi: Makashi is a means of lightsaber to lightsaber combat, best used when fighting against a fellow Force-user. It was described as being very elegant, powerful, and requiring extreme precision, allowing the user to attack and defend with minimal effort, while his opponents tired themselves out
Soresu: A form that requires maintaining a constant shield of deflective strokes by making short, quick sweeps, close to the body, leaving the Jedi less exposed to ranged fire. Form III was the most defensive of the seven forms.
Ataru: An aggressive style, Ataru is fast-paced and effective against single opponents, though weaker in prolonged combat and confined spaces. Ataru is characterized by Force-assisted acrobatics, both for attack and defense, and fast, powerful strikes. Notable users of this combat form included Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn.
Shien / Djem So: Shien, considered the classical Form V, is more adept at blocking blaster bolts, whereas Djem So, developed later, is designed for lightsaber combat. Both Shien and Djem So were designed to use the opponent's attack against them, as evidenced by Shien's focus on returning blaster bolts to their origin.
Niman: Form VI attempted to balance all elements of lightsaber combat, combining the techniques from Forms that came before into a less intensely demanding combat style.
Juyo: The incomplete Form VII, Juyo is a very demanding skill. On this site, you cannot be a master of Juyo. To learn Juyo, you must have mastered Shii-Cho and at least one other lightsaber form.
Jar'Kai: was a subform of lightsaber forms Ataru and Niman, and was one of the oldest forms of lightsaber combat, a dual blade wielding technique. The usage of the Jar'Kai form actually predated the invention of the lightsaber.
Double-bladed Lightsaber Combat: The double-bladed lightsaber is a weapon designed to kill more effectively. Many notable Sith Lords weilded Double-bladed lightsabers.
Mounted Lightsaber Combat: was practiced when Dark Jedi would have to use their lightsabers in combat while riding a mount such as a tauntaun, or mounted on a mechanical means of transportation, like a swoop bike.
Force Sensitive Abilities and Practices:
All attributes are ranked from 1-10, 10 being absolute understanding, 1 being a basic grasp of the concepts. Please be reasonable when deciding your skill ranks, as no Dark Jedi is great at every skill set.
Here is how I will grade your stats:
I will not accept any 10's, so don't even try it. And even a Jedi Master may not have a 9. Try and judge your character fairly. If you have a very talented Dark Jedi Apprentice character, who is 13 years old, and he's extremely good at using Force Manipulation, his skill level would probably be a 4 or 5. If you have a very talented Sith Lord character, and he's extremely good at using Force Manipulation, his skill level would most likely be an 8. See the difference?
Force Manipulation: Force push, force pull, force grip, telekenisis... Anything that manipulates your opponent.
Force Senses Telepathy, sensing danger, ect.
Protection: Force shiels of any kind, force repulse, ect.
Healing: The ability to heal yourself and others by manipulating the Force.
Force Powers - Destruction: Force lightening, anything that phsyically harms your opponent.
Attributes:
All attributes are ranked from 1-10, 10 being perfect.
Please be realistic when selecting stats, as no one person is good at everything. Keep your characters interesting and real by giving them weakness.
Physical Strength: This affects how strong your Dark Jedi's lightsaber strokes are. Some races are stronger than others.
Intelligence: This affects your Dark Jedi's knowledge of the Force, and also how they interact with others. Most young Dark Jedi would have an intelligence of 5 or 6, while Sith Lord's would be a 7 or 8. I would rank Master Yoda as a 9.
Speed: How quick and agile your character is in combat. Some races are quicker than others, and younger Dark Jedi tend to be faster than their elders.
Leadership: This affects how your character influences others. Most Apprentices wouldn't have a very high leadership, but Sith Lords would.
Unarmed Combat: Some Dark Jedi focus on Unarmed Combat, just in case they were to lose their lightsaber in battle. I would rank both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi at a 6, for they both use Unarmed Combat.
Force Attunement: -10 to 10, -10 being completely evil, unswayable, 0 being neutral, and +10 being absolutely good, pure, and completely uncorruptable. Acolytes cannot be lower than a -4. To be below a -8, massive roleplaying must be done with the character.
Appearance: This is affected by Race, Gender, Age, Height, and Weight. Do your research before writing your character's appearance.
Personality: This affects how character interacts with others during roleplay. Dark Jedi tend to be selfish beings, but your character can act any way you want them to. Everyone is different.
History: This is where you tell us all about your character. I want to know about their birth, childhood, acceptance into the Dark Jedi order, missions, friendships, love interests, ect. Basically, all the details.
What I WANT to see: A written outline of your character's entire life, from birth until now. I don't want you to skip any years!
What I DON'T want to see: There are no "unknowns". Your character may not know about their past, but you do. Give me all of the details, regardless. There are also no skipping ahead. I see a lot of bio's like this:
"He began his training, and ten years later became a Sith Lord."
You skipped over half of his life just then. I want to know what happened during his training. Details are the key!
I hope his guide has been helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
